
From 13. - 22. January 2012 the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games
will take place in Tyrol. The Winter Youth Olympic Games is one of the biggest sport events in the world. Over 1.000 young athletes aged between 14 and 18 fom over 60 different nations will compete in all olympic disciplines. The venues of the the YOG 2012 are Innsbruck, Seefeld and Kühtai.
As this international event shows olympic and european values like fairplay, intercultural understanding, tolerance, anti-racism, human rights, inclusion, gender equality and many more, the idea of inviting 30 young persons to do their EVS (European Voluntary Service) within this big sportive event was born.
30 European volunteers are integrated in different activities for this event. Furthermore they are ambassadors of the values of the olympic games and they represent Europe.
The volunteers are integrated in following activities:
- Youth media lab
- Youth world mile
- Youth sustainability project
- Youth arts project
- Youth competence project
- Youth festival 2012
Who are the volunteers?
30 young, motivated persons support the idea of the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck with their time, their commitment, their enthusiasm. They are in Innsbruck for two months (1.12.2011 - 31.01.2012) and support the Culture & Education Programme of the Youth Olympic Games 2012
Europe is calling!
The young people come from Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegowina, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Spain, Turkey. The volunteers are between 20 and 27 years old.

Programme "Youth in Action"

In the framework of Youth in Action Programme
of the European Union it is possible for young persons, aged 18 - 30, to do an European Voluntary Service.
The aims of the Youth in Action Programme are to make young people aware that they are european citizens, to participate acitvely in their daily life, to respect cultural diversity and to give access to all young people.
The European Union funds the major part of our Group EVS "Yog 2012 EVS
" for our 30 young people e.g. pocket money for the volunteers, insurance for the volunteers, 90 % of the travel costs, accomodation and food.

In December 2011 five group EVS volunteers from Bosnia, Estonia, Italy, Denmark and Hungary got the chance to get to know the work of the regional youth information center InfoEck and carry out workshops with youngsters in Tyrolean schools.
